Wine Down - Ooltewah

Hi friends - When you are a lover of cooking like me... ok, I may be a bit obsessed with food... then when you're in different cities or countries, it's so exciting to explore the land through the food being served. I moved to Chattanooga 3 years ago and let's just say it was hard settling into a city not as culturally diverse as Miami- which is where I was born and raised. However, Chattanooga is in the center of so much opportunity. Plus, I have grown to love BBQ more than I ever thought I would. Haha!! So I  wanted to devote a piece of this blog to places in our beautiful city, county and surrounding areas that I have come to enjoy!

First up... WINE DOWN in Ooltewah, TN. Ooltewah is in Hamilton County, just about 20 minute north of Chattanooga. Wine Down is a special spot right off I-75 in their Cambridge Square Plaza. If you're driving through the area and are hungry for some great food, then find the exit and go enjoy the delectable treats of Chef & Owner, Marcus Garner. You will not be disappointed! Trust Me.

So here's what's so special about this place in my opinion... MARCUS CARES! You're not going into a restaurant that does the same tricks day in and day out. At Wine Down you'll have options to taste dishes you'll not find in most similar areas. I'm talking rabbit terrine, candied bacon deviled eggs, truffle fries, duck egg rolls... who knows! Because the chef is open- it makes every consumer that walks in his doors more open. Below is one of my favorite lunches...simple and delicious- a Lobstah Roll, house salad (yes even the house salad is fire lol) and some housemade pate with cornichons, grain mustard and toast points. But don't stop with just lunch, you need to take a look at the wine and beer list. Chef Garner has studied the art of dining and the compliments of wine to it, so ask the staff when you're in what wine or beer pairs best. They are all well versed and understand pairings with his culinary treats so well. Stop in. And as the chef says...Eat. Drink. WINE DOWN.
